1 July is Canada Day – “Canada’s birthday”, commemorating the union of the Province of Canada (now Ontario and Quebec) and the New Brunswick and Nova Scotia colonies of British North America into the Dominion of Canada in 1867. Since then, of course, it’s got a lot bigger!
