If I drive someone else's car (which is insured but i'm not a nominated driver)in Melbourne do I still need my own insurance cover?

My daughter tells me you don't but surely you can't just drive
any car without them knowing your car history as you could
be a big risk ??

Many thanks for any replies

Hi, kas0, and welcome. Smile

I don't know about Australian insurance companies so can't give you a definitive answer. But if it's anything like the UK, I imagine it varies from policy to policy - some companies certainly do allow "any driver", although they charge higher premiums, as you'd expect. I suppose the policyholder then has to decide whether they trust the other driver enough to risk their no-claims discount!
