Hi All,
I'm a neophyte here, so please bear with me
My friends and I intend to apply for skilled migration to Australia under the General Skilled Migration (GSM) category and we are currently in the process of collating the documents needed in the first and, I suppose, the most vital step - the skills assessment.
Having been employed by a multinational insurance broker company for almost 6 years now doing client prospecting and marketing insurance services and products, "Insurance Broker" would most likely be my nominated occupation. I have read, however, from the ANZSCO website that Insurance Broker in Australia is defined as one who "operates as an
independent agent to sell life, fire, accident, industrial and marine insurance for a range of insurance companies". Taking into consideration the operative words "independent agent", as well as my experience working for a company instead of independently, I am quite apprehensive now as to whether my nominated occupation would still be fitting or not.
I am not sure if my interpretation of the ANZSCO definition was correct thus, I would appreciate any guidance, further explanation or information with regard to the standards of Australia (both skill and experience wise) for an individual to be classified as Insurance Broker.
Looking forward to your feedbacks. Thanks!
MaryAnn
