Hi all

This is such a great site !!! Very Happy

We moved to NZ 5 years ago from Egham in Surrey but I've now been offered a fab job in Sydney. The problem is I want a lovely quietish place with a great private school for my 11 year old boy which doesnt cost a million. Any advice would be great. I also have a 16 yr old boy who is a top football player in NZ so need to get that up and running in NSW for him to be happy.

I would also like to be able to drive to a nice beach (45 min) and travel by train to CBD everyday so maybe less than 1 hr on the train would be good.

please please can anyone help?

Hi Kat and welcome to BE,

The most outstanding private boys school in Sydney would be Scots College, at Bellvue Hill. http://www.tsc.nsw.edu.au/
The surrounding prestigious suburbs of Double Bay and Woollahra are home to lots of Sydney celebrities, and of course have a very high price tag.

On the beautiful north shore there are both Newington College in Lindfield (on train line) and Sydney Grammar in St Ives. Travel into CBD would be within an hour.

Another very good one is The Kings School in North Parramatta. Lots of nice surrounding suburbs, and maybe the least expensive of those mentioned. Travel by train would take approx half an hour into CBD

Best wishes,

Could argue that Know Grammar is The outstanding school for boys in Sydney - best exam results???? That is in Wahroonga, 30 mins to CBD by train and 30 mins to Mona Vale beach

Schools in Upper North Shore are also great - my sons go to Waitara Public school which has an excellent reputation for getting 90% of kids into selective public schools.

I was educated privately in the UK, but don't necessarily think you have to in Oz.
