I have been living out of the UK for over 15 years and am now moving to Bulgara. reading many of the posts here, it seems to me that many people just do not do their home work. Embassies can be extremely usefull, staff there can answer many of the questions people need to know about the country.
they can advise name of lawyers, check the internet, look at large companies profiles who operate in the country, which lawyers do they use which accountants ???
look at accounants/lawyers web sites, the good one's will have English and are happy to tell you who thier clients are.
Buying in any country (even the UK) needs a lawyer, never trust an estate agent (they are NOT working for you), do your home work, (the grass is NOT greener on the other side, bills have to be paid. As an expat it is always difficult to find a job especially if you do not speak the landguage. Starting a business is difficult, dreaming is easy
That been said, I have worked in Russia, Georgia, Kyrgystan, Azerbaijan and several other countries, and be assured a little effort will go a long way.
hopefully I will be resident near Bourgas sometime in June this year.
wishing everybody here a geat 2011.
