I wonder if anyone could enlighten me as to the process of obtaining a heavy goods licence in Canada, preferrably Alberta. I am hoping to relocate there in the very near future. I have got 17 years experience over here in the UK, but will need to do a bit of tuition, before taking a test over there.

Any hints or tips would be gratefully recieved.

Thanks

Tam. Laughing

Hi Tam,

you have few options, you can book yourselve on to a driving school in Alberta, or find an employer willing to take you on with your british licence, which you can drive on upto 90 days. Then use a company vehicle to go for your test. Hubby suggests try google search for truck driving schools in Alberta.

Tam, hubby says what regiment were you in? He was in Royal Green Jackets. Also check out uktruckerstocanada.com Has lots of info. Hope this helps.

Wendy

Thanks again with your wealth of knowledge. Ihave already been trying to track down companies, also trying to get ahead of the game by downloading the Canadain version of the highway code.

I was in the Royal Corp of Transport / Logistic Corp. My regiment at the time when I was at Med Hat was 16 Tank Transporter Sqn, Fallingbostel in Germany.

We met a few Green Jackets out there, good lads to be with.
