Canada - British Expat Forum

I am sure this question has been posted before but i could not see it on the board. Is there a way to get UK Satellite TV coverage in Canada (ie SKY TV) and if not then what is the reason - is it technical in terms of satellite positioning or is it legal.
If it is a legal issue then has anyone heard any stories (obviously no one on the board) of people breaking the law and finding ways to gain access to such services.

I do get the BBC via satellite here in Canada, but that is as far as it gets. Am not talking bbc canada or bbc america, I mean the real bbc. The problem, the distance.

I also get a lot of European channels, along with asian, oriental, african, and south american ones. What you need to do is invest in a dish, and a free-to-air receiver. To get the far away stuff, you need a big circumference dish lik3 33" and higher

Which satellite do you get BBC via?
I know the Astra satellites' footprint doesn't extend that far, and I've been looking for a way to get BBC.

I thought that Canada blocked signals from other countries except USA as it wants to protect its own TV industry. I thought it was actually illegal to pick up signals from Europe as Canada scrambles them. Am I wrong because I would LOVE to get British TV on the west coast.
