I was just about to start a thread asking this question so I thought that I'd pop it on here.

Thanks for a great site!

Hi Guys

I have experience of this as we were on visitors visas whilst we were waiting for our work permits. Our six year old son had no problems being accepted into the local catholic elementary school when we explained that we were waiting for our work permits.

However, the local High School that our 17 year old daughter chose to go to did not want to know at all. They would not let her have any information on the school or subjects etc until we had the work permit in our hands. Sadly for her our work permit took 22 weeks to come through so our daughter was out of school from June 2006 (when she finished her UK GCSE) until Januray 2007.

CIC London also insist that children have study permits.....they do not need to have study permits if one parent has a work permit...just in case this is a situation you may find yourself in!

I am in the same position, I want to travel Nova Scotia for up to 6 months while deciding whether to apply for wp or tr etc. I would also like to look at property and take some R and R.

If my 15 year old has to have a study permit, can I get one with myself only a visitor.

Am I right in saying that if I was to study for less than 6 months, I would not need a study visa and could do it as a visitor, so why can't she, even I am willing to pay the fees.

regards
