Hi all,

To those of you who were kind enough to offer us great advice on this forum, and to those who may have just followed our story, we would like to just let you know that we are staying here in Nova Scotia.

After a long, harsh winter, My hubby has been offered 2 jobs in 1 week and he has just accepted 1 with great benefits and a much better salary!

We are, of course, very pleased with this as I know this is the best place for my children to grow up and have a better life.

This is not to say that Ontario is not in our future plans, but NS is where we are staying for now.

My advice to you all is, don't give up trying. You may not get the perfect job right away, but it will come along if you work hard, make a good impression and put yourself out there.

You really don't know what to expect when you move to a new Country and start your life again, and it is really difficult, especially with kids.

We made mistakes, hubby accepted the first job that was offered to him, we bought a house right away, we bought a car right away, and we got ourselves in debt.
We panicked because we wanted to settle into a new home quickly before the kids started school in the September.

If we could do it all again (not likely!) we would take our time and adjust to our new lives. Work out our outgoings and incomings, rent a house, buy an old banger and be alot happier!

Good luck Very Happy

Good news Lorry, hopefully things will pick up for you guys now.

It seems things are improving in Canada ahead of here in the UK and hopefully that means a bit of stablity for you guys.

Not sure how I missed your latest update here until now, Lorry, but I am glad to see things are still on a high for you. I spent all my Canadian working life in Ontario and it's a great province, full of opportunity and variety. Having said that, if you can make a go of it here in Nova Scotia it's a wonderful place to live. In some respects it reminds me of Bermuda. Bermuda has so many of the attributes of old England, the way it used to be many years ago before "modern" problems arrived. Nova Scotia is like that, in my view. It's slower, friendlier, easier in so many ways, but then you know all that, eh. Very Happy

Well done, Lorry. Some great advice there. It's probably best not to jump into things too soon. We're not in Canada but the same probably applies anywhere - we rented for a couple of years until we found the right place to buy, and we still don't even have a car yet.
