Well they have finally arrived! I didn't think it would ever happen but it has, our visas arrived this morning. After all the worry of extra medical checks, worrying if we had enough points etc etc we are at last able to start really thinking about a move to Canada.

Thanks everyone for all the help and support given so far......you can guarantee more questions will be coming soon.

Good luck all those still waiting.

Congratulations Mel Very Happy
Can you remember when you received your passport requests ?
We've been waiting 11 weeks now since our medical results & requested docs were submitted to London !
We're a bit worried that we still haven't heard anything.

Hi,

We didn't actually receive our passport requests. We got a letter back in February which basically said we needed to pay our PR fees and have medicals done within 30 days and then if we heard nothing to send our passports 30 days after the medical date. We did this, thought we had it and were soooo relieved then later the same day a letter landed on the door step asking for further medical information on me. We were gutted! Anyhow we emailed CIC and they held onto our passports whilst we organised extra medical info and then we waited......! I think it was just over 4 weeks from the date they got the extra medical stuff to us getting our visas (the longest 4 weeks of our lives I think). The only thing that kept us sane was that there appeared to be no movement - no application denied or granted - on the Trackitt forum since May so it seemed everyones application was moving slowly.

Hang on in there, they will contact you eventually!

Best of luck and I really hope you hear soon so you can stop living in limbo and start planning for the future.

Hi Mel, thanks for the info.
I've been in touch with our immigration advisor. She is going to e-mail CIC nextweek if we haven't heard anything before then.
This is a really frustrating time for us.
Thanks for your good wishes.
Well done again. Laughing

maleandan2: Congratulations on "making it". It is evident that you have appreciated the information and support from this BE forum, so do continue to use it for yourselves and others.

When my wife and I moved to Canada back in '75, everything was done by snail mail. We researched in libraries where people today use the web. We wrote letters to friends here where now it's instant emails. We wrote individually prepared letters to many prospective employers; now carefully crafted letters can be churned out by word processor. There was no forum such as this where we could reach out to others for answers. The biggest difference, though, was that in the main emigrants took a relative leap into the unknown and we were no exception.

In the end it's all worthwhile. Good luck in your adventures.
Ecstatic in paradise.
