Can any of you wonderful people confirm the customs proceedure?

My head is spinning at the moment from all the info that I am trying to taking in Crying or Very sad

Am I correct that on 'landing' in Canada I will have my goods to follow list stamped at immigration?

Some of the removals companies have mentioned attending a 'customs interview' at a local office at a later date. Is this correct or am I just getting confused? (quite possibly!!!)

If anyone could share their experiences of clearing goods through customs, I would be very grateful.

We shall be having a 40ft container and our destination is Nova Scotia.

Thanks

Ours was stamped when we landed - no customs interview.

Our biggest hassle were the dogs as the plane landed in the afternoon (they followed us out 2 weeks later), and at the cargo centre in NS. By the time they were unloaded and cleared it was gone 5 pm and everyone had gone home!!!!!!

So it took another 4 hours to get a vet in and some cargo guys and eventually our poor dogs were released to us at 11pm. We then had to drive them nearly 3 hours to our house!!! We dare not let them out to pee as we knew they would not go back in. And they had been in their crates from 8am that morning UK time.

Alicat: Good luck in Nova Scotia. Be sure to keep n touch through these boards after your arrival so we can follow your progress. When's the date? Where's the destination? I know you favoured the "valley".

Well this is what happend two weeks ago.....

We landed at 7.30pm..... Showed our PR papers, and then directed into another area. We were asked to wait, and someone would call us in.

About 30 - 45 mins. after, We were called in. It took about 20 mins for her to process our papers.

We then went to pick up our baggage. Then sent to the customs department. Here we produced our items to follow lists. They were stamped, and copies given to us.

We were then finished.... Oh, apart from picking up the puppy, that took a few hours! finally got to our house at 2AM!

Seems like a pretty typical arrival. Welcome to Canada.
