I have been hearing over the news that English pensions in Canada are not index linked, that as soon as you start to recieve a pension it stays at that rate for ever. Will this change or is Canada being left out to this.

I assume you're talking about the British (not English ) state pension.

If so, what you've heard is true - and there are posts about it on this board already, including this one. British state pensions paid to residents of Commonwealth countries aren't index-linked, unlike those paid elsewhere. Successive British governments have refused to address this iniquitous anomaly. An attempt was made to force them to do so in the European Court of Human Rights fairly recently, but it failed, and a subsequent appeal was thrown out in March 2010.

Dave is absolutely correct. The court cases are all over. Now the battle is being fought on the political front, lobbying the British parliament to rectify this dreadful situation. Don't hold your breath though. I think our pensions will be frozen for a long while yet, and inflation devalues them quickly.
