Hi,

My name is Mick and I have been living in Cambodia with my Dutch wife for four and a half years. We have been working with NGOs and now have my own manufactuing business so it looks like we will be here for a bit longer.

There is a massive expat community in Cambodia, and form several enclaves, French, German, Dutch, Christians etc. Things have improved dramatically in the major towns, but village life is much the same as it was a hundred years ago. Landmines whilst much publicised are not a threat to tourists or the average expat. The country is very safe and the people are extremely nice and friendly.

If anybody has any questions about living here or are coming for a visit and have questions or just need somebody to allay fears please feel free to post a question.

All the best,

Mick

Hi Mick

Welcome to BE and thanks for your kind offer of help. I'll make a new forum for Cambodia now so your posting has more chance of being seen.

We went to Cambodia recently (visa run from Thailand) but unfortunately we were only there for 30 minutes at the border. (For various reasons it wasn't a good time for us to go on holiday so we just went on a day trip.)

Anyway, we're keen to go back for a proper holiday sometime.

Keep in touch and thanks again for your posting.

Hello, my husband has just applied for a job with a british NGO in Cambodia and would love to be able to chat about what life is like for you and your wife. We have a 2 year old son.

I suppose my concerns are Malaria, ( we lived in Zambie for 2 1/2 years ) schools and general dalily life and how it differs to our experiences in africa.

Can you help??

Confused

Dear friends,

I am living in the Philippines as an Expat, would like to know if a foreigner can live in Cambodia and how. Please let me know about tourist visas and expat, retirement visas.

Respectfully,

Don

Hi Nick
My name is Graham. I am 64 years old and from the UK.
I am thinking about moving to Asia to retire, I have been to Thailand many times, but would also like to find out about living in other nearby countries including Cambodia.
I am looking for any help or advice anyone can give about this idea.

I am fit and healthy and am told I look and behave a lot younger than my years hahaha, I enjoy playing golf and developing a good social network, hope this helps, and look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Kind regards
Graham
