Can someone on this board help me. There is a bar somewhere in the city of Stockholm which is an Irish Bar and is tonnes of fun. I have to say I spent many a happy inebriated night there when I was in Stockholm on business.
The bar, is located down a side street and upstair had a dining area (on long wooden tables) and two bars. The always seemed to be a band playing and there was plenty of TV's around which they played footie on. There was also a below level bar which tended to be a bit dingy.

I also remember, if you came out of the bar and turned left there was the main road through the centre of the city and across this was a nightclub of some sorts.

What is the name of these place??

Sorry Si, haven't remembered myself yet (yes, driving me nuts to), and Stockholm trip postponed (i had to go to Marseille instead. Not happy - Stockholm is wonderful in winter). Will be there around 20-24Feb though and plan on watching the rugby there. Hopefully i'll be sober enough at one point to write the name down before i forget...[/quote]

Hi Si, I was sober enough (at least on entering) to be actually make a note of the name whilst i remembered. The place I was thinking of was "Galway's". Any bells for you or are you thinking of somewhere else....?

Hmmm. Doesn't ring any bells but my alcohol frizzled memory is not exactly a reliable source of information. Maybe I have now got an excuse I needed to head back to Sweden!!

Thanks,
Si

Sounds about right. Why do you think it took me several months and had to take a pen/paper and force myself to write it down before i started drinking.

I think it's a great excuse though Razz

Btw, if it helps to ring or not bells, if you come out of the door, virtually immediately on the left you go under like quite a high and large bridge in the building (where the building goes right across the road), and heads slightly downhill.

You know something? I am a right plonker.

Why I never just did a Google search before using "irish bar stockholm" I never know. Anyway I did and I found that it was this place:

http://www.dubliner.se/

When you next back in the lovely city check it out because I alwasy had a blast in there. Well, at least I think I did......I always woke up the next day with a serious hangover.

Thanks for looking for me anyway. Next time I head back to blighty maybe I'll take a RyanAir flight to Stockholm.

Cheers,
Si

No idea, but i never thought of that either!

The Dubliner?? Doh! Makes sense. I should have mentioned that anyway i suppose. I've only been in there once, and it seemed a bit of a disappointment, although i wasn't in there at the useful time. Having said that, have been in the one in Gothenburg a couple of times and that ones quite good, and i spend large chunks of time in the Dubliners in Copenhagen which is great fun.
Completely as an aside, i was in their last week for the Rugby and - entirely surreally - ended up being joined by the legend that is Neil Jenkins plus his family and a couple of friends to watch the Eng v Wales game. Very strange!
