I don't even want to start about the unbelievable hassles we've had in the last couple of months, but it finally looks like we've got a schedule:

Sep 22nd -10: meet police photographer to take shots as evidence in case against building contractor next door.
Sep 23rd -9: book flights; submit visa applications
Sep 24th -8: collect visas
Sep 25th -7: submit passports for Dubai visa cancellation
Sep 26th -6: collect police report re case above
Sep 27th -5: give lawyer & my mate power of attorney re case above
Sep 28th -4: weekend
Sep 29th -3: weekend
Sep 30th -2: get passports back
Oct 1st -1: Pack
Oct 2nd -0: Take cat to vet for sedation; GO Very Happy

I've had problems with the company not paying my end of service gratuity (and my residence visa can't be cancelled until I've signed off for that); I've had problems with my health insurance taking ages to settle my claims (I've got about $8,500 of the $15,500 claimed so far); but the kicker is the car: cut a long story short, the site next door was doing a concrete fill, the boom swung over my car and covered it in concrete. They tried to clean it, and while they did get most of the cement off, they also removed huge amounts of paint and scratched most of the windows. End result is that the builders are admitting responsibility for pouring concrete on the car, but refusing to admit that they then wrecked the car while trying to clean it. The police are bringing a case against them, but I have to wait until they lose the police case, then bring a civil case against them for the damages. Could take 6 months - deep joy.

Still, it looks like we'll finally get to Thailand in 10 days.

Cheers,

Mike

OMG! It sounds like a nightmare. You'll just have to get through it somehow. Then, when you get here, just sit back and relax. Pop into Jum's, and The Irishman bar - I'm sure they'll remember you and make you welcome.

Just take it easy.

And then we'll be back to lead you off the straight and narrow again.

Good luck! Looking forward to seeing you both again.
