We've now moved server and there are a few odd glitches popping up. Every £ sign has gone weird. I'm in the middle of fixing them up in places where they matter. Any others can just be done on an ad hoc basis if I find them.

If you spot any other relevant oddities please let us know.

It turned out that the weird pound signs were a symptom of the way in which the server's configured - the default character set for the databases on the new server is UTF-8 instead of ISO-8859-1.

I've changed the script that generates the page headers, so all the characters should now render properly. But if anyone sees any more weird stuff, please do post here, as Kay suggests. Smile

Shocked At first I thought I was imagining it, but I'm definitely not!

On the Aus board the headings have been moved Rolling Eyes

At the very top under announcements etc should be the states, and then underneath Visas/Medicals etc. The Whinjin' Pom was at the bottom of this list, not the top as it is now.

If it causes a problem to move them back, I understand.

Sorry, Sue - my fault.

We'd noticed that from time to time people were posting questions of general interest on the boards for the state they were interested in, rather than on the general boards. So Kay asked me to change the order of the categories so that the state/city boards come underneath the general ones, and to let you know.

I did the changeover, but forgot about letting you know. Sorry again.

Sorry, Sue. Razz I did wonder about discussing it with you first but decided just to strike while the iron was hot and make the change there and then. It seemed to me that people would see the board relevant to their State and not bother scrolling down to see that there are special boards for immigration, schools, etc.

Let's see how this new layout works. Personally I don't think the socialising board should be right at the top either. Again it encourages people to launch in with all their queries on the one thread. We shall see...
