Why is this site so quiet compared to other sites, Is it because not a lot of people know its here.
I signed up in May but i must admit id forgotten all about it.
Its a great site that has loads of great information is there any way we can get it back up an running.
Its unlike some of the other sites where there is a lot of back stabbing and bitching etc.
I have replied to a few posts this morning I just hope that it picks up.

Because we very quickly chuck off anyone who is a pain in the @rse. We believe that quality is more important than quantity, and we have a great bunch of regulars here. We're happy enough without hordes of the great unwashed.

We don't allow spam, self promotion, and touting for business. That obviously puts off a lot of people who don't want to contribute anything but just want to do the ME! ME! ME! stuff.

You could sign up for our email newsletter - that might help to remind you of our existence. Unlike most of our competitors, our newsletter is OPT-IN not opt-out, which means that we only send it to people who have asked to receive it rather than sending it to every man and his dog for whom we have an email address. Maybe you think we're daft but we do things differently here.

Thank you for the compliment.

The site IS up and running. It's just that it's not populated by a load of twits. In the words of Frank Sinatra, "I did it my way..." Wink

That's because we chuck off those types of people. Who wants to put up with that kind of stuff anyway? Not us. You'll get people on other sites going on about "free speech" as though that confers some sort of right to be rude to others. We don't agree. This place is more like a pub where the management reserves the right of admission and people who can't behave themselves get turfed out onto the pavement. We don't want them here.

Thanks for your good wishes and for taking the time to give us some feedback.

Cheers

Yep, it's in this FAQ board, see:

Thanks for signing up for our newsletter. We don't send it every week, although it's called the weekly newsletter - it just depends on what else we're doing. We have other sites to run, such as http://www.britishpapers.co.uk which is all about British newspapers online. Please have a look and let us know if we've missed out on your local Scottish paper, and we'll add it if they have a website. We also have various blogs.

Welcome! Chinwags and the House of Fun are good places to start to get to know people. Join in and have fun.

Where am I from? I'm originally a teuchter, a North East quine, but have lived in various parts of Asia since the late 1980s.
