What are the best and worst sequels, compared to the first film ? Almost by definition, sequels are worse than the prequels because its normally only goods films that attract the finance for a sequel

to start us off

best sequel : Godfather 2 or Terminator 2
worst sequel : Green Street 2 or Grease 2

I'd have to agree that sequels and prequels generally fail to live up to original titles. I've never seen Highlander 2 or 3, but the consensus seems to be that they're abysmal. And the first Star Wars prequel (The Phantom Menace) was so dire that I've fallen asleep - literally - the two times I've tried to watch it.

The Empire Strikes Back was pretty good, though.

Worst: Basic Instinct 2

I first watched The Matrix 10 years ago and totally loved it.
We never seemed to find time to watch the 2nd and 3rd sequels...until a few weeks ago.
What a load of c***! I wish I hadn't bothered as they were both a total let down and a waste of my time! Shocked

I'm with you there, Lorry. The third one gave me a great send-off to sleep on a long-haul flight a few years back. Laughing
