I was reading today about Birmingham City's interest in signing Kenny Miller from Rangers, when I noticed that Rangers had themselves had an offer rejected by Dundee United for their player David Goodwillie.

Has anyone encountered any other names that made them chuckle, even if it was in a rather puerile way? Razz

There was a David Smellie in my class at school. I would rather change my name than go through life being called smelly.

I have dealt with people with odd names, Rhoda Dyck, Arthur (use a cockney accent) Dyck and Harry Noblick spring to mind, I would hope nobody with the last name Ball/Balls would call their child Ophelia, or Claude.
Life can be cruel enough without a weird name.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

I honestly don't know what the parents of this US racing driver can have been thinking of when they named him.

Kay and I were sitting in an "Irish" bar in Manhattan Drink! and a pro-celebrity golf tournament featuring said driver happened to be on the telly, which is how come we became aware of the name.

We have some interesting names in our native population, I know a fellow called Mr. Strikes-with-a-gun. and one called Wind-in-the-tree. For first names I know: One-before-the-storm, another called: Rain-on-his-face. Not funny but quite unusual I thought.

I wonder if they have difficulty dealing with officialdom with names like that.

I don't think so, but it's hard to hide a smirk when 'Rain-on-your-face' gives his name for a speeding ticket.

A Dutch politician who also holds a Council of Europe post has just been in the news in connection with observing the Russian presidential elections. I wonder who came up with the nickname... and whether he's ever forgiven them.
