Hi

We are retired over 70's and live in Malta. Two years ago we opted out of the UK National Health and into the Malta Health Service, with excellent service, I may add.
However, we now wish to visit our son in Australia while we still can and need travel insurance with 'pre existing' health issues'
All companies we have tried either require you to live in UK, dont insure over 75 (my husband is 76) or wont give over 30 days. We are prepared to pay the higher fees. Does anybody know how we can get around this. Surely the Maltese travel to Australia and can get insured.

Joan

Hi, Joan, and welcome.

We don't allow recommendations of specific companies on the public boards, I'm afraid. If anyone's got any general advice, they are welcome to post it here - but anything identifying a specific company will be treated as an advert and removed.

Is there maybe a Maltese company that requires you to be living in Malta to qualify? Perhaps you could ask that general question on the Malta Health & Medical board, and see if anyone has any information.

Again, specific company recommendations aren't allowed there, but you'd at least be able to find out whether there is such a thing. (Recommendations are allowed, and indeed encouraged, on the premium service Recommended Suppliers board.)

Hi Joan

I'm aware of one insurance company in Malta that will cover people up to the age of 79
