So Kay, just trying to save work?! Laughing

Think they make sense to a point, but i'd personally be inclined to leave the legal board up there. Although I personally haven't used it yet, there seems to have been quite alot of useful stuff up there and it's something I would ask questions on in (potentially quite near) future, due to the people actually being more helpful than anybody i have ever talked to/emailed/phoned in the UK since I've been away. Normally as soon as you say you are going/live away, even if your question is pertaining to that or that they specialise in it, they will fob you off/get rid of you/put the phone down etc with incredible haste and consistency.

Thanks for the feedback, Rich. You'll still be able to ask for advice on the Expat Chat board - or I could set up a general "I need advice" board. And anything useful will be in the archives. I'll already started moving stuff in there.

Basically what was wrong with the old boards was that they were just being used as an advertising medium - there's very little advice in there. Have a look and you'll see how many times the answer is just an advert for the firm in question rather than any generally helpful comments.

I'm sure there are plenty of lawyers, tax people, and all kind of other experts on these boards. I'm hoping that we can open things up for genuine discussion rather than giving a monopoly position to one person in each field.

It's my mistake as I had initially thought that having "resident experts" in each area would be mutually beneficial. It just hasn't worked out that way so I want to try something else.

Hope this helps, and if you have any better ideas as to how to resolve this, let's have 'em!

Thanks

That sort of makes sense. A general general "I need advice" board would be a possibility, but as you say we could use the general chat board. I understand about the advertising thing, and agree it's a pain in arse. From my point of view, providing Andrew (who seems to know his stuff really well and be very willing to help) is still around to answer serios queries that will more or less cover anything on their that i'd be likely to need!

We will back what ever decisions you make, oh glorious leader. And strangely, that was a serious comment.
