One great thing about being a nomad and always moving house - often never being able to take the old stuff with you - is the opportunity to start afresh. Very Happy

Sure, we're only moving a few yards away next time but we're not going to do the house according to a settee or a cupboard we already have (we don't have much and have very little of any value) - so it's carte blanche again! Very exciting!

Anyone else who's into this kind of thing?

(All that said, I hope to heck we won't be moving again soon after this next one. Razz )

Yes, but it is also nice to have some familiar things with you.

We brought some stuff with us, but also replaced a lot as well.

We brought no crockery with us, and it took us ages to find some we liked. No, we did not eat off paper plates while we were waiting; we bought some cheap stuff which then went to the animal refuge jumble sale.

I agree, there are some items which you like and value just because they're nice. We even still have a few things which you and Zia gave us, after you'd packed up to leave. Against all odds we managed to get them over here, whether in our pockets or hand-luggage. We drank a toast to you the other night when we had a special malt whisky in the glasses you gave us. Very Happy We'd never have left them behind, even if it wasn't very comfortable having them in our pockets while we were trying to sleep on the plane. Laughing

I was just saying that it's exciting to do a whole "interior design" job without having to take old furniture into consideration.

Funny you should mention crockery - we've still not bought a "dinner set" - just haven't seen what we want yet. And we used to have so many beautiful things...

And by the way, we know you were posting from the Philippines - a country well known for doing outsourcing work as spammers. Gotta say, you didn't make a very good job of doing it. You didn't fool me for a nano-second (not even with your pathetic attempt at a hidden link).

For our decent members here - mostly we just delete rubbish like this, but it doesn't do any harm sometimes to do a bit of visible moderation so you know we're working to keep the place clean and keep down the vermin.
