Hi

Welcome to BE. We lived in Delhi for about three and a half years and mostly enjoyed it.

I'm assuming from your user name that you're British. In which case you can apply to join the BHC Club as an associate member. I'm not sure how much it costs but it'll probably be worth it if only to bump-start your social life.

It also sounds like you're a "trailing spouse", so you may want to join the Delhi Network - no online presence as far as I know - they have an office in the Hyatt Regency hotel where you can go and find out about their activities.

As for finding a job, that may be more difficult as there are issues such as work permits to be considered.

I'm happy to help but I'd need more info about your circumstances. I'd also offer to show you around and introduce you to people but we left in August this year and are now living in Thailand.

BTW, are you actually in Delhi or Gurgaon? It makes a difference, and people tend to socialise accordingly. Gurgaon is much more modern and tends to have its own social circles, mainly centred around workplaces.

Still, there's loads to do in Delhi if you know where to look. If you give me a few more clues as to what sort of thing you're looking for, I'll try to help.

Cheers

Kay

Kay

I appreciate you no longer live in Delhi but I am wondering if you could give my some advice or anyone else if they are able to help.

I have been offered a job in Delhi and am just getting things ready to go. However the one thing that is causing me confusion is regarding Malaria medication.

May I ask if you took Malaria medication for the entire time you were out there or did you just take the necessary precautions. I do not really want to put an antibiotic in my system for the entire six months that I am there and not sure if they are suitable to be taken long term. However I know when I last travelled to Delhi all travel details were very hot on the need to take malaria pills. I also found that they did not suit me very well so again unkeen to take them.

Could I ask your advice.

Thank you

Isobel
