My husband's company want him to relocate to Delhi. We have been living in Dubai for the past 9 years and have a 7 month old baby. I suppose I would just like an idea of what expat life would be like in Delhi with a baby?? We still have to decide if we would both like to make the move, but I feel a bit negative about it at the moment (esp. because my family are here in Dubai) Is there a community of young mums? what do they do? What are schools like (for the future)? etc etc....
Worried about Insuring your home abroad? We have the answer.

We like living in Delhi, and you can get most things here. There are plenty of expat communities and activities. If you're British you may be eligible to join our Club, the Americans also have a lot going on. There are regular activities for mums and toddlers - I think it's called "Busy Bees".

Please also see our other website: [Obsolete link removed, and info now all on this site.] there's a forum there too where you can see all the questions I've already answered about things like what to bring, the dress code, schools and accommodation.

Hope this helps and let me know when you get here!

Dear Kay,

Thanks for your reply. My husband and I will be coming to Delhi in a couple of weeks time to see what we think. Do you know anyone with a baby or young children that I can contact (email or phone number) to talk to. I would like to find out more about 'busy bees' etc.

Thanks for your help,

Hannah

.....er, Kay? I haven't seen the weather forecast for a few days, but isn't the monsoon just starting? At least Hannah's likely to see the weather at its toughest - temps in the forties and humidity heading for 100%.
Did you know that espadrilles were worn by footsoldiers in the XIIIth century?

The weather's certainly not at its best just now. We have grey skies and quite a lot of rain. At least it's still warm. The rain is heavy but it doesn't last long. The biggest problem is that we're having dust storms as well as rain so when it rains it tends to rain mud! Ach it's not so bad. 8)

I'd be happy to show Hannah around but didn't offer yet because I don't know anything about babies or children. If no one else offers, I'll be happy to take them around. Meanwhile I'll try to find out about the great unknown - children and their activities. Shocked

Hi Kay,

We just wanted to thank you for ALL of your help and It was lovely to meet up with you. Very Happy

By the time we left Delhi we had decided that If James was happy with the package his company offered, we would make the move. The company finaly got back to us, but they didn't offer any incentive for us to relocate, so I guess we are staying here for the time being.

I would love to come back, even if it is just for a visit. When I do I'll get in touch.

Thanks again for everything,

Hannah

Hi Hannah

Sorry that the job didn't work out for you. Never mind, you never know what's around the corner.

I enjoyed showing you around. It got me out of the house for a change!

All the best to you, James, and the smiley baby.

Kay
