If it helps, my experience of maltese dentists is a bit variable, with some just about OK and cheap, others good but pricier.
If it helps, I had a porcelain veneered steel crown fitted by "everybody's favourite Gozo dentist - see other dentistry threads) for Lm 150. He suggested that if I ended up needing an implant, that would cost about 700Lm from memory. Thats about the same as I was quoted in Australia about 3 years ago, so I would suspect that your specialist work would bring in a good living here if you can build a good reputation quickly. That's assuming that there is actually enough high value work to go round.
You will be fighting the fact that a large percentage of Maltese probably have friends and/or extended family already working in the general dentistry field. I would also suspect (no real foundation for this other than experience of living in small communities most of my life) that these dentists are more likely to refer their patients to a Maltese specialist.
I would also have to say that a large percentage of, particularly middle aged, Maltese do not have a good grasp of English, so if you don't speak Maltese, your target market will be significantly reduced.
Hope this helps.
