we have some touch lights in the bedrooms and they have started going on on their own.

we either have a poltergist ( but nothing else happens)
and this only seems to have started since we had a smart meter fitted.

Its really annoying having to wake up to keep turning the lights off,
does anyone have any ideas

I doubt its anything to do with the meter, more likely a short circuit in the light switch (prob caused by damp)

What sort of lights are they? Do you touch the whole light body or just a switch contact?

Have you tested your RCD (the large circuit breaker in the consumer unit with a test button usually marked (T) on it) since the smart meter was fitted? This should kill all your power so switch electronic devices off first and be prepared to reset clocks.

We had this problem many years ago before smart meters.

It was Gussie our cat.

I changed the switch fittings but he soon sussed and within days was again giving us 'feed me' awakenings. Rolling Eyes
The problem with this Forum is that it needs more special effects and dance numbers.

slightly off topic but sticking with the Smart Meter - anybody know when they are supposed to be activated as in no need for a meter reader to call? Cant remember when mine was installed but at least sometime in 2010!

Heaven only knows. Mine was installed a year ago and they still call to read it.....then send estimated bills or nothing at all. OIM!

Might I also observe that these new meters are not very smart at all. They do not have the facility of wifi connection to PC software enabling monitoring of usage throughout the period. That's essential when you are trying to be eco-aware.

Yes I know that this software can be purchased elsewhere but the Maltese suppliers remain unable to accommodate my three phase supply. Rant!
