Hello people, glad to be joining your site and hopefully soon your community in Malta too!

To cut a long story short, I'm going to be coming over for about 3-5 months at first with a view to something more permanent in the long term. So I'll be renting initially - not a problem. Just one thing I'd like opinions on: landlord attitudes to installing my own tv system (as I will most likely want to get my own satellite tv sorted - it seems like this dreambox thingy may be the answer).

What do we think? I guess if the flat already has a system with a dish, then all I need to do is get a box set-up to work with it. However, this might mean repositioning the dish. Do you think I'll have problems getting a landlord to agree to this?

I'd imagine the alternative would be to rent a place with no satellite already installed, and put the whole thing in myself but that might require drilling etc which the landlord is even less likely to be keen on.

I don't suppose anyone has any knowledge on this slightly random area?? Sad

Hi Jim

Welcome to the forum. We have some people around who are pretty smart about this sort of thing (I'm clueless) so I hope you get some answers soon.

Hi Jim, and welcome to the forum. With tens of thousands of empty properties, you will find at least some landlords open to most reasonable suggestions for a long term rental, but I doubt 3-5 month lease will get you far in such negotiations.

An issue with many apartments is limited roof access - something to bear in mind
