Hi, I was wondering if anyone can advise me please?

Back in February we signed a lease for 1 year via the largest estate agent on the island, and paid 6 months rent in advance plus a month bond all to the landlord.

However, in the past 5/6 months we have discovered a number of things in the apartment we're not really happy with:
shower tray broken, shower leaks water and floods the floor with each use, pipe leaking under kitchen sink, shelves in living room not fixed correctly therefore hanging off wall, and the sliding patio doors to balcony do not lock due to the lock been broken - this has been mentioned several times to the landlord who claims he is coming to fix it! I know we are on the 2nd floor and I dont think anyone could get in, but if they tried it would be easy as the door is never locked!

All in all, we're now getting a bit fed up, and after looking around we have seen a property advertised which would suit us with more luxuries than we have currently for a less price per month.

Our landlord has still not let us know when/how we should start paying rent, which is due to start 27th Aug, and I'm beginning to wonder if I can get out of here and perhaps find somewhere better for us?

What do you think? All advice appreciated.

Thanks alot.

What does your lease agreement say about breaking the lease ?

I would talk to your letting agent - they should advise you on the best way
