As I found in these FAQ and on other places, an EU citizen can buy property of any value under Ordinary Residence if that is his/her primary residence (I found somewhere that minimum value was 104000 euro but I think it was a mistake).
My doubt is: are there problems if I keep my house on my country of origin (which of course won't be primary residence)? Does the same stamp duty rate apply? Maybe the case of keeping a property in own country of origin could be clarified in FAQ in either case.
Thank you in advance - as usual -.

Buying a property FAQ
http://www.britishexpat.com/expatforum/malta/viewtopic.php?t=9277

from that

"* In the case where the property being purchased is to be the main residence and no other property results to be under the name of the vendor in question, then the first €116,468.67 are subject to a discounted rate of 3.5%. The remaining balance will be subject to the normal rate of 5%. This concession is applicable only to EU citizens. "

Plenty of people keep a house in their country of origin. What I'm not sure about is whether " no other property results to be under the name of the vendor in question," refers to Malta, EU or worldwide

I'm fairly sure it refers to Malta only, but 100%.

Did you mean "the vendor" or "the buyer"? If you say "vendor" then it's not clear to me, I thought it would be "buyer"
