Malta - British Expat Forum

My dad has an 08 year car. He is not able to drive anymore and would like my son to have it. My son and family have lived in Malta for 6 years and haven't got a car. He said he needs to have owned a car for 3 years before he can bring it into Malta. Is there any other way he could do this please? I have looked through the forum and it seems to say 2 years in own name plus registration taxes or something to that effect! It does seem quite complicated & I am now confused! If anyone is able to advise me I would be very helpful! Many thanks.

Sorry to say, but your son wouldn't be able to import the car without paying the registration taxes for 2 reasons
1. its not in his name
2. he's lived here too long
