Thank you Chris and Mark for good advice. The subscription would have been payed already if PayPal was not so flaky, I like very much the idea of half the money goes to Gozo SPCA, have spent lots of time doing unpaid work in similar places in Spain, donkeys, welding etc, lol.

Yes, Chris, the plan of renting a house for sale in an unknown town that might seem good to a newbie is a good plan. It might end up lucky for both parts? Or, I find somewhere else much better when knowing it? Or the neighbours dogs barking all night make me want to go to China? Who knows? Good advice, thank you Smile Will head for this instead of buying "blindly".

Also thks for stuff about taxes etc. My intention is not to buy to sell or invest, my intention is to live in the place I might find and be alien Maltese. But frankly, all with % etc when it comes to money makes me dizzy... black smithing or alcohol are different matters!

Thank you again, I keep on reading

is that welding or gelding Shocked

fully concur with Chris on renting first - you may hate Malta or you may hate the area you first live in - to buy and then sell a property will cost you 10% even if the purchaser and sale price are the same - that 10% would pay for 2-4 years rent, given rental yields of 2.5-5%

thanks again for the advices, Chris. Yes, renting something that might be good to buy later seems like an excellent plan. Subscription to the board/site would have been made if not PayPal was so so flaky, will sort it out eventually, can not make phone calls to them from Japan though, lol. Thanks Mark for the additional info on tax issues. I just hope that when and if I buy a property it will not be to sell it again, it will be to live there and be a real alien Maltese Smile) Meanwhile I keep on reading....

Mark, it's welding, iron work, black smithing etc. No veterinary work for me, especially not with my tools

Gozo loves multi-taskers, so don't say no too quickly

yeah Mark, Spain also love multi-taskers or rather the opposite... have seen too many cowboys, in fact most seem to be cowboys. I get the joke though Smile) I only do TQW, trust/quality/warranty, is this very, very common in Malta?

sry, never mind the question. I know everyone have to prove that they are good at something. I have some amazing friends at the Costas, both Spanish and Danish and English, they have proved to be good and they have too much work, in the middle of the crisis, mainly by Spanish customers. That's how it goes, I get it. (I guess the question in mind was about general work morale in Malta, is it just ok to get the money, then disappear and the whole thing falls apart after a week? Is that the case in Malta?)

sorry for being annoying and sorry for my poor English, I am not from Britain, but some FAQ said it did not matter. I am trying to get straight answers, but not only from you, Mark, you have to carry the whole board, ne? But, with more negative input, I am sure I just forget about the good weather and move to a civilzed country like Germany or so. It will be cold though and not pretty..... brrrrr

Fortunately Malta is nothing like how you describe Spain
