Need to know the cost of Road Tax on a car we are going to import into Malta (Honda Civic 2001).

Can anybody direct me in the right direction, please?

Cars registered in Malta before 1/1/09 - based on age and cc

cars registered in Malta after 1/1/09 - based age and emissions

Thank you from the animals at Gozo SPCA for joining the recommended suppliers boards Very Happy

On the link, unfortunately the Govt department is switching to a new website and haven't moved everything yet. The following link shows which have been moved, and which are still missing.

Hi there, seen these rates for cars registered in Malta either before 1/1/09. My question relates to importing a 2nd hand car to Malta. I presume therefore if imported now it would attract the rates of 1st registration being after 1/1/09? Then secondly, the scale of years on the chart.... Does this relate to the actual age of the vehicle OR it's length of time after 1st registration in Malta?

Hope that makes sense!

Cheers
David

Hi David, and welcome to the forum Very Happy

I presume therefore if imported now it would attract the rates of 1st registration being after 1/1/09? yes

Then secondly, the scale of years on the chart.... Does this relate to the actual age of the vehicle OR it's length of time after 1st registration in Malta? Its not clear, but I'm fairly sure its actual age of car, as the idea is to make it less attractive to have older cars - I've emailed the authorities for clarification

This seems quite good for calculating car import tax.

After using this online calculator I think I've been dissuaded from importing my 850 2.5 sport estate. Time I thinked 'green' anyhow.
