I'm a secondary teacher with 8yrs experience and at the top of the pay scale in the UK, (UPS3 + 1TLR), question is, do my wife and I (+1 child) take the plunge and move to NZ?

A little while ago we were all go, nothing was going to stop us, but the more we read up about it, the more negatives we keep hearing about wages, cost of living etc. I'm not sure what my wage would be in NZ, but I'm starting to get worried about if we can even afford it. We're not looking to live in luxury, and money has never been a motivator for me, but we don't want to be on the bread line either. Should we look back at Oz as an option?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi there.
You shouldn't be on the breadline as an experienced teacher. The wages may seem lower and the cost of daily living high but you need to balance this out with lifestyle benefits and the lower cost of houses / cars etc. Have you visited before ? Have you checked out what salary scale you would be on here?
Good luck with your decision.
