Hi there
I'm new to the forum, so hi! Just wondered if anyone could give me any thoughts/advice on the areas listed above with particular view to owning and riding horses? My husband and I have our own horses here in Shropshire and enjoy hacking out, we are hoping that horse riding in NZ will be less hectic than over here with the busy traffic and almost every square inch of land being owned by either farmers or wealthy estates...
I have a job offer in Gisborne, so we would probably head there to begin with, but Nelson really appeals to both of us, and Christchurch appeals to us the least, but my husband is a barehoof trimmer and we have been told that there is a shortage in Christchurch... hence the three choices!
Any thoughts much appreciated.

Hiya!

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the job offer!

I'm on North Island, and not a rider, so not really sure about the areas. (the only one I've been to is Christchurch, and really only in the city...)

However, on the basis of you having a job offer in Gisbourne, I *really* would recommend that you go for that first off. When you are settled, then you can take a look at the other areas, but jobs are not easy to come by at the moment (speaking as someone who had a job offer and then lost it before I started! Rolling Eyes ), and it would be better to end up somewhere that is slightly less than perfect and re-build the cash from the move (do *not* underestimate how expensive it is!) and take it a bit slower...
