Hello all, We have sold our house in Scotland and are moving to Manchester to stay with relitives,We have more relitives living in Murcia, and planning to relocate to Spain but dont know which part.
We are 37 and 34 and have two boys aged 14 and 12. We have two horses which will be comming with us.
We are planning a visit April/May to have a look around and will be based in Murcia.
Any area which is suitable for horses, teenagers and possibilities for a good builder are what we are looking for.
We plan to move before the end of 2006, and rent for a year so we can have a good look around for the perfect house with land, in the right area. Hopefully well away from any holiday resorts, also not too fussed about travelling to the beach.

Thanks, any advice will be very helpfull.

Ricky and Janine.[/b]

Can't help with your specific questions as such but be aware that many people find that their N. European horses are really unable to cope with the climate down here and ultimately have to move back North with them.
May be heartbreaking but for the welfare of the horses it may be better to part with them in the UK and acquire some acclimatised Spanish ones.

I live in inland Andalucia, south Sevilla province. It's good. Not perfect, but good. Cold in winter, v hot in summer. Still very Spanish.
As anywhere, work is a problem for many people - unless you speak Spanish you have to rely on the expat population to provide your client base. So, swings and roundabouts - not many expats = not many clients but not much competition either. Lots of expats = lots of potential clients but lots of competition too. And everyone has a go at being a "builder" even if they never lifted a piece of sandpaper in the UK! Hence the expat building trade has a bad reputation pretty much everywhere. You can't bring your good reputation with you.
Good luck!

The Altiplano de Granada area is at about one hour from Murcia. You can see it if you have a look at this page www.andalucianlakedistrict.com
