I have some NIE forms to fill in for my wife, daughter and myself. We will be moving to the San Roque area and renting a property for the a year or so before buying, and I will be probably looking for work in Gibraltar.

There is a question on the form regarding reason for making the application, if I tick the Professional box (as I coming to Spain to work) it asks for a reason. Any suggestions on what I should put in there, or since I will not be in work when I apply, should I tick the social box?

I have also been told that I will need a work permit by someone, is that true? I thought I didnt need one as an EU citizen.

When I am in Spain to hand in my form, can I take it to the nearest police station or are there specific ones which deal with NIE applications?

sorry for all the questions, and thanks for any advice

All the things that I was told before coming here (we now have Residencia)
But!
I recently sold my car to a German lad, so of we go to the Jestoria to get the papers changed over.
Mr German who has a house/cars/bikes here, has NO NIE.
Do not need one says he to the Hestoria, I'm a EU citizen & my passport is good enough for all requrments......................Jestoria agreed with him !

Changed the paperwork over (via Traffico) with no problems !
You do not need a work permit BTW (I assume that you are British)

Hi
If you hold an EU Passport you do not need a work permit.

As for the tick box you put the reason you are coming to Spain *Work* and the type of work you will be doing.

When you hand in your application for an NIE Number, you hand the completed form into the National Police station nearest to your home, as this has your local address so can be checked by the National Police.
Is your UK home unoccupied? Intasure can help.
