Hi all. Just thought i'd introduce myself and whilst at it ask a quick question or 2.
It's on the nie issue again i'm afraid.
I've recently moved to Ibiza (Sta Eulalia) and live on a boat (i'm the skipper.) I need to get some wheels but before i can do that i need a nie number.
1) Do i need a Permanent Spanish address or will the boat do? I do have an address of a company i could use if the boat is no good.
2) Section 2..... (reason)..... well, i'm not buying a house just yet and i don't really want to tell them about my work. Can i just put the reason as 'i want to buy a motorcycle'? If this is OK then which box would i tick... economico, profesional or social? Also if this is OK.... could someone please please pretty please translate 'i want to buy a motorcycle in Spain' into Spanish for me. I would be eternally grateful.

Many thanks

Hi,
Can't help you with your NIE questions but with regard to the translation:-

'i want to buy a motorcycle' - Quiero comprar una moto.
I am in Spain to buy a motorcycle. - Estoy en España para comprar una moto

Well this seems like a busy forum lol. Many thanks for the translation though. Have done a lot of walking and a lot of digging and this may be helpful for others........ Apparantley the rules have changed! Unless you apply for residency they no longer issue nies for general use... buying a vehicle etc. They now only issue a nie if a) you're a registered resident b) you're buying a house and have proof/papers or c) you take with you a written contract of employment from a Spanish company.
I'm lucky enough to know a company here that will write me a contract for me to take. Once done, i'll just destroy it.
Seems a bit harsh to me and a lot of hassle just to get some wheels.
Fingers crossed that my journey to Ibiza tomorrow will bear fruits and i wont come home even more frustrated.
