Hi cadizgirl,
It really depends where you are. If you are in a city area, then you have the option of the cable operators and banwidths of upto 10mb (in theory).
Telefonica are odious, but not much more so than the rest of the ISP sharks. They've just reduced prices - you can now contract a 3mb line with free national calls for 40€/month.
Orange may be worth a look, but they were getting bad press at the end of last year.
If your Spanish is up to it, then there is a Spanish user group for internet users with heaps of opinions, tools and info: Asociacion de Internautas.

Hi Cadizgirl,

I live just a few miles away and use Telefonica 3mb ADSL internet and get free calls to anywhere in Spain. I find Telefonica reliable and the

is getting better in its service.
To reduce phone calls to virtually nothing I use SKYPE on the internet (ADSL only). SKYPE to another PC is free and calls to UK landlines cost 0.017 cents per minute. Some calls to 0800 numbers can be 0.20 and mobiles about the same. Very cheap and worth getting ADSL.

In fact, Skype isn't ADSL only - you can use it on a dial-up connection, although ADSL's obviously much preferable.

Anyone wanting to know more should see the announcement at the top of the ICT & Electrical topic listing - or just click on the link in my sig if you've not signed up for it yet. (We get commission for people who sign up to Skype's paid services using our links, at no extra cost to you.)
