Hi All,
Well, I am in England at the moment. Along with my wife and 1 year old we are eager to give Spain a try, my opinion is there is now no such thing as 'Great' Britain anymore. Therefore we have put our house up for sale. We have always loved Spain and the way of life they lead. Unfortunately though, I am having major grief trying to find a good site with good leads to find work. I ave mainly been looking for listed British building companies in Spain and sending my CV. I have many years experience in Plastering and have an NVQ 2 and Goldtrowel award which I find is increasingly rare. I have recently (past few years) been doing alot of maintenance work and cover a wide range of skills in a multi-trade capacity. We have come to the conclusion that we will move out to wherever there is work then work around that and rent in the area until we see fit to buy. There must be a website or some leads to jobs for skilled workers surely ?. Any help please ?.

Regards,
Bill.

hi, my wife and i along with our 3 kids have also been searching for work in spain, mainly in the costa del sol and costa blanca areas, in my opinion the only joy i have had finding work has been when i have visited spain and tested the water, speaking to people, making contacts etc. i honestly dont think that considering your trade you would find work on the internet

hope this helps and wish u the best of luck

Thank you my friend, it was nice to get a reply. I was kinda thinking along those lines. We are out there at the end of september for a fact finding week. Then hope the sale of our house will go through. Thanks again for the reply. Keeping our fingers crossed & learning spanish along the way Wink.

Regards,
Bill.

I'm afraid that workers in the building field are being laid off in droves at the moment. I wouldn't be too optimistic about your chances I'm afraid.

Hi Caroig,
Nope I am not optimistic, after all... in my opinion a pessimist is never disappointed Very Happy . Basically we are coming out there in Septemeber for a week of fact finding. I am not too bothered for the time being if we top up our savings (living expences for 1 year) with me doing bar work or whatever comes along, I am not too proud to do almost anything. We are selling our house in England so the beauty of our scenario is we have no commitments or ties. We intend to rent in Spain for the first couple of years at least therefore we'll have no milestone around our necks. We are also madly learning spansih at the moment.

Regards,
Bill.
