I received a bill for my property with the previous owner’s details on, dated before I purchase the property. After going to the Suma office and giving them all the necessary paperwork to say I now own the house. I paid my bill, in my name for the period I have owned the house.

The women in the Suma said if they cannot find the previous owners I maybe liable for the bill. The previous owners live in the UK and have since divorced, so I doubt they will have any luck there even it they bothered to find them.

I have now received another bill in the previous owners name, for the period before I owned the house. I realise the Abogado probably didn't do their job properly by not unearthing any previous debts on the property before my purchase, I doubt if they will help me at this stage.

Can anyone tell me, am I liable for this bill? Will I have to pay on the other persons name? Is it wise to just ignore it after all in theory I have opened someone else’s mail?

Suma manages different local taxes. For some of them you would be liable and for some others not.
If you could detail the concrete concept of each bill I could give you a concrete answer.
