I have just joined this forum as I am interested to know the experiences of owners renting properties via the internet. Which are the most and least successful sites for owners? Do owners prefer fixed advertising cost or commission payments on successful bookings? And what the reasons for success or failure might be?

Another thing I have been wondering about, is given the current financial climate and all the doom and gloom - which appears pretty much global - are those owners who might have previously kept their second properties for personal use becoming more likely to help finance the properties through holiday lets?

One thing that is for sure is that there are going to be changes - big changes! And surely owners who have been reluctant to rent out their holiday homes are going to be forced to do so.

As for advertising on the internet, I'm sure the list could be endless. From an owner's perspective it surely can be appealing to offer advertising on a commission basis, from a business perspective this may not be so viable. I suggest fixed cost (but cheap!).
