Paraguay, named after the river that flows centrally through it, is one of just two landlocked countries in the Americas. What else do you know about it?

Driving instruction

Postby Iainriley » Sat 2 Feb 2013 10:47 GMT

Hi I am interrested in emigrating to Australia as a Driving Instructor , I have been instructing 10yrs in UK & need a new start!
I'm a grade 5 ADI badge and also hold a Fleet licence too & many other teaching qualifications to do with the industry & specialise in teaching clients with cognitive issues. Apart from provisional licence holders (Learners) I work with UK Councils & private companies delivering 'driver intervention' schemes for clients to avoid prosecution. I have been informed that the ADI badge as of Feb '13 will be recognised internationally as a Level 4 NVQ

Is there any hope of transferring my qualifications?
What do I need to do next to apply for a WA working Visa?
Would it be easier to work independently or for a franchise & be sponsored to go?

Hi, Iain, and welcome.

Hopefully someone with personal experience will be along to answer your question. In the meantime, I imagine you've already had a look at the Aussie government websites to see what the regs are - and there's plenty of stuff to look at on our Immigration forum, including links to the key sites.

I know we've had at least one person looking to work as a driving instructor over there in the past - unfortunately at that time that wasn't listed as one of the skilled trades in demand, but maybe things have changed in the meantime.

Good luck, anyway, and I hope you get some answers soon. We'd love to hear how you get on, anyway. :-)
