is there free ante and post natal care in bc? our worry is that for the first 3 months we are in canada any probs arising from the pregnancy are not covered financially. also what about ante natal appointments and scans, do we have to pay for them. is there any kind of free service in canada. if so is it any good

For the first 3 months that you are here you will have to take out your own insurance, until your Medicare (government health care) also known as Medical Services Plan kicks in. I do believe that pregancy/antenatal are taken care of. But be aware that there are quite a lot of things that it doesn't cover eg. dental, eye exams, glasses to name a few.

We use to pay $108 per month family of 3. However many employers offer their own private health insurance, so most of the above will be covered furthermore many employers will pay the monthly medicare cost.

There are quite a few people on this forum that know more. They will be able to add to this or correct me.
