Well in all honesty driving at any standard in New Zealand is not a skill.

In my area I have logging wagons fully laden speeding like wild things on unseald roads. The incidence of truck drivers being drunk or high over here is beyond belief.

Unfortunately I feel that this is not a specialist skill but don't take this as read. I wish it was believe you me and I hope you are successful we need you.

I've had a quick scan of the NZIS website, and it looks, unfortunately, that they don't class driving as a skill in demand.

However, if you are able to find an employer (and I do know someone with an HGV qualification who has gone out to NZ based on the job that they got), you do have a get out:

What if my occupation is not on one of the lists?

If you want to apply for a temporary work visa/permit (or recruit temporary workers from overseas), the occupation does not have to be on one of the lists. The employer must show that they have genuinely searched for suitably qualified and trained New Zealander workers, and we will undertake a labour market test. Alternatively, an employer with Approval in Principle may be able to recruit employers from overseas.

Good luck!
