Should Frank Gallagher be killed off?

Any Shameless fans here? I think the character Frank Gallagher is pretty central to the ongoing story.

The Guardian appears to think otherwise and that Frank should be killed off if the show is to retain any credibility.

Frank Gallagher must die

It looks as if quite a few of the people commenting think that the whole show should have stopped after the second series. I disagree; I think it was still going strong up to the end of Series 4, which is the most recent one I've seen.

As for Frank, I don't have any particularly strong feelings. Personally I reckon he's incidental to most of the individual storylines. He's a distraction and an annoyance to the other characters. But perhaps that's the point - there are people like that in real life too.
