I Thought The Hippie was a well know Scottish Comedian.

Xewkija

Can definitely recommend Xewkija. Everyone has made us so welcome here since our arrival at the beginning of April. Mind...it's not quiet in June. We have just finished the 10 day fiesta and need to catch up on some sleep. It's been great fun, incredibly loud fireworks, bands, discos, boy these guys can party!!!The beach at Mgarr Ix-Xini is one of the best places to swim (and dine) on the island and there is everything you need here. But it's not touristy. The bars are little local bars, no flash restaurants round the square like some other villages. Brilliant pizza take-away though.

We also started out with an apartment overlooking the northern coast (Marsalforn valley) in Xaghra.
Great in summer - miserable in winter!
In that respect most of these properties are the same, whether in Zebbug, Xaghra, Nadur... Just don't get a north-facing property if you are planning to live here in winter.

We then moved to Sannat to a nice, south-facing farmhouse with pool and love it here. It's a suntrap in winter and we get no wind - thanks to 12ft walls - and it's cool in summer due to it's massive stone walls. There are several local shops, a butcher, fishmonger, bank and fruit/veg guy who goes round with his truck.

Gozo is a small island though and everything is easily and quickly accessible from all locations, so I would recommend that you concentrate on the property you want and worry less about
location (other than for weather exposure).

Welcome to the forum achim - agree with what you say - worry more about the property than the location, and, yes south facing over north facing !

Is it just my confirmation bias or are there a disproportionately high number of Sannatians (?) frequenting this forum? :)
