We also started out with an apartment overlooking the northern coast (Marsalforn valley) in Xaghra.
Great in summer - miserable in winter!
In that respect most of these properties are the same, whether in Zebbug, Xaghra, Nadur... Just don't get a north-facing property if you are planning to live here in winter.
We then moved to Sannat to a nice, south-facing farmhouse with pool and love it here. It's a suntrap in winter and we get no wind - thanks to 12ft walls - and it's cool in summer due to it's massive stone walls. There are several local shops, a butcher, fishmonger, bank and fruit/veg guy who goes round with his truck.
Gozo is a small island though and everything is easily and quickly accessible from all locations, so I would recommend that you concentrate on the property you want and worry less about
location (other than for weather exposure).
