Well we are back home again after a fantastic 4 weeks holiday and research and are looking forward to our next trip in September when we hope to be receiving our house contents.

Never wishing to keep all our eggs in one basket we have decided that it is defiantly Gozo for us so if the current plan doesn't come off then we will be looking for another place in September. Having seen so many on the market while we were there we know we will be able to find something that will suit us.

During the 4 weeks we even had time to act as tour guides to our friends who came out and joined us for our last week.

If our plan works out we will be living in Sannat with an arrival date of 19th December. We still plan on coming over by train and ferry as that will be a short break for us after the hectic time of selling the house.

One extremely good option we took up was to go and see an accountant and received a lot of very good advice on money matters and residency and I would recommend this action to anyone thinking of making the move.

We have had a lot of very good advice from some Expats from here meeting them in person so once again thank you very much for your time and the information.

We have learnt from one of our neighbours that another neighbour is interested in buying our house for their 14 yr old son and renting it out until he reaches an age. This could well work out in our favour as it is a bit of a worry on what to do if our house sells before the date which has been set for our final move and which cannot be changed because of a family wedding.

Anyhow, we are even more excited now about moving to Gozo and becoming residents there and taking an active part in the community.

Looking forward to meeting some of you in the future.

Roger

The September follow on from previous posts.

Our goods arrived at the docks on 3rd Sept and are being delivered into Sannat on Wed 10th Sept.

Only slight hiccup last week was when the receiving agent on the docks told us they didn't accept credit or debit cards to pay for the landing fee. After a quick email back to the agent in UK they gave me the telephone number of a forwarding agent who promptly informed me he would pay the landing fee and add it to his delivery fee which I could pay by means of a simple bank transfer - result.

Next move will be for us to complete the journey and arrive at the house in December after we have completed all outstanding work contracts and seen Marion's eldest son get married.

An added bonus is that we met Gozomark on the ferry today when they were collecting for the SPCA - yes it was a bonus as he is a very nice chap and we look forward to seeing him more once we arrive.

Wow what a week we have just had.

We found out a couple of week ago that the place were were going to rent, and where our belongings were, was no longer available due to unforeseen circumstances.

This meant that we had to make a quick dash over to Gozo to find another place and we were lucky enough to have 3 days available to allow us to do it.

We arrived with the estate agent on the Monday of this week and she took us out to view 10 properties that day. The property we decided on was the 4th in line and the contract signed there and then so all others were cancelled. While we were discussing the ins and outs the landlord offered his truck and a driver to help us move our belongings over all free of charge. We also had a couple of other people help us with the loading and it just goes to show how friendly and generous people are in Gozo.

Back in the UK now to finish off the last minute things then we will arrive and start the unpacking process on 18th December.

We are truly amazed at how smoothly this journey has gone this week.

We are finally here and moved in.

50% of the unpacking done, major food shopping done, replacement items bought now we wait until after Christmas to set up our Internet and TV package.

Our landlord and his family are so friendly and willing to help with anything at all from advice, to using their vehicles and time to introduce us to those people we feel we need to talk to straight away.

We have been invited to Christmas dinner with a friend and some other expats on Christmas day which is a truly wonderful offer, thank you.

As time goes on we will no doubt bump into more of you out here in Gozo and we look forward to making new friends.
