DJ work in Malta - Summer Season

Postby Krazy8 » Thu 30 Jan 2014 06:36 GMT

Hi guys,

I'm a DJ with seven years professional experience, currently working in the UK (Sheffield), and in the past (2009/2010) I have also worked two summer seasons DJing in Ibiza.

I really enjoyed the two summers I did in Ibiza, however the second time I went I struggled to find work again when I returned to the UK, so I've toughed it in Sheffield (which is a ghost town in Summer when the students leave) these last few Summers, however it seems I've finally got a set of residencies where I know I will be welcomed back after the Summer, so I'm looking at options of where to work for the Summer season (June - Mid-September)

Having worked in Ibiza twice, I'm not bothered to do it again, there are so many wannabe DJs going over, offering to work for free, and apart from beaches and parties the island has little to offer. Malta on the other hand seems to offer more culturally and especially of interest to me, it seems to have a strong poker scene with a number of casinos running tournaments throughout the week.

As a DJ I am extremely diverse, and currently I have 4 weekly residencies (1 playing Indie/Rock at the Leadmill, 1 playing Inde/Rock at Plug) , 1 playing Commercial Chart & Dance (Leadmill), and another playing Hip-Hop/R&B (Jacosa Bar). In Ibiza I held residencies paying House & Trance at Corner Bar & V Club - (the music I love the most) - however there is little demand for that in Sheffield now - but I'm always keen to play that too.

I'm hoping with my diversity it should make it easier for me to find work, especially in the Summer when all the English Language students are over, but perhaps some of you locals with real knowledge of the nightlife scene can let me know the score, or make recommendations of certain clubs/bars to approach?

Thanks for your help!
