Setting up a barbers

Postby Danilmax » Thu 9 Oct 2014 17:32 GMT

Hi, this is my first post - great site and very useful, thank you!

I've had a look around the site for procedures for setting up a small business and although I've found some good information some of the posts are quite old and I'm wondering if it still applies. So, my question is this,
What are the first steps in setting up a one-man barber shop?

So far, the procedure I have is:
Register with Inland Revenue as self-employed
Register for VAT
Apply for a trade licence
Register with ETC
Find a class 4 premises
Start trading

Does this sound about right? Have I missed anything? - I'm pretty sure I have but this would be my first business so a bit of a learning curve for me!

I have moved to Malta now from England (I am an EU citizen) expecting to find a job as a barber but finding it a little frustrating as almost all salons are unisex so I thought I'd start up on my own.

Any help and info would be greatly appreciated.
