To your average Briton, Slovakia is one of Europe's less well-known countries. Why not do something to change that sad state of affairs with our Quick Quiz?

No, really... it does!
But does it matter more in Malta than at home?

Lire found

Oh no - I just found a small stash of lire that I had forgotten about. Does anyone know if I am too late to change them - and if not, what I can do about it?

Hi

coins can be changed until 1/2/10 this year, notes 31/1/2018

you can either take them to the Central Bank (near the bus station in Valletta), or donate them to your favourite animal charity in Gozo :D

edit: beaten to it :D

I wonder what animal charity that could possibly be? Thanks Mark and Greg - and yes, there will be a donation!

:D

At Gozo SPCA we are still getting Lira donated - seems to go with the season - lots came in when the bad weather started, presumably people putting on the winter coats and finding coins (and notes :D ) in their coat pockets. Where is the weirdest place you have found Lira money since the changeover? - someone told me (Greg ?) their children "post" coins in the unused keyholes of the internal house doors, and they found plenty there. For us its been the usual - back of the settee, under the seats of the car....

Hi PJ

seems that sorting out of boxes has paid for a glass of wine or even a bottle
